2026-27 Week 1 - Monday Morning Hopes and Dreams

Carl v Chris

Team Carl vs. Purdy Young Things

We begin with a live look at Team Carl’s playoff hopes… Actually, no—we’re being told these are merely his Week 1 hopes. Team Carl entered Sunday expecting a competitive matchup. Josh Allen had other plans. The Buffalo quarterback detonated for 39.66 points, accounting for four touchdowns and immediately placing Carl’s afternoon under federal investigation.

Then came Derrick Henry.

144 yards. Three rushing touchdowns. 37.3 fantasy points. The King didn’t find holes in the defense—he left craters. By the time Henry finished, Purdy Young Things had already scored enough points to win most normal fantasy matchups. But this was no normal beating. Jaxon Smith-Njigba added 122 yards and a touchdown for 28.2 points. Zay Flowers answered with 150 yards, another score, and 28 points. Together, Allen, Henry, JSN and Flowers produced 133.16 points—more than Team Carl’s entire lineup has scored so far. Across the field, Carl searched desperately for answers. Chuba Hubbard delivered two touchdowns. Trey McBride supplied 24.5 points. Chase Brown chipped in 18.8. Respectable performances—all of them immediately buried beneath an avalanche of touchdowns from the other sideline. And then there was Drake Maye: 178 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Ten fantasy points—and approximately 40 minutes of Carl staring silently at his phone.

The scoreboard now reads:

Purdy Young Things 192.76
Team Carl 120.92

Carl still has Jaylen Waddle and Harrison Butker remaining. He needs 71.85 points from them to complete the comeback. So, technically, it isn’t over. And technically, the Titanic still had a dining room after it hit the iceberg.

Purdy Young Things: 99% chance to win.
Team Carl: 1% chance—and all of it currently sitting in Miami and Kansas City.

This wasn’t a matchup. This was a programming decision.

Doug v Mike

Team DuShuttle vs. I QUIT

We head to the fourth quarter, where I QUIT—despite the name—showed absolutely no intention of leaving. Lamar Jackson opened the proceedings with 324 passing yards, two total touchdowns and 27.96 fantasy points. Not spectacular by Lamar standards, but more than enough to establish control. Then Javonte Williams arrived with two touchdowns and 24.2 points, turning a competitive matchup into the fantasy equivalent of a locked office door. Team DuShuttle tried to respond. Breece Hall rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown, delivering 21.8 points. Cam Skattebo added 81 yards, another score and 14.1. Unfortunately, DuShuttle’s wide receivers appeared to be participating in a separate contest titled Who Can Produce the Least?

Drake London: 5.5 points.
Davante Adams: 5.6 points.

Meanwhile, I QUIT received only 3.2 points from Ja’Marr Chase—a performance so quiet that Cincinnati has asked nearby residents to check their doorbell cameras. And yet, I QUIT still leads comfortably.

The scoreboard:

I QUIT 106.46
Team DuShuttle 81.20

I QUIT still has Kenneth Walker III remaining Monday night. Team DuShuttle counters with Courtland Sutton and Travis Kelce. Doug needs Sutton and Kelce to erase a 25.26-point deficit—plus everything Walker adds to it. The computer gives him an 8% chance.

So, is the matchup officially over? No. But Team DuShuttle has already started checking the waiver wire, which is fantasy football’s version of turning on the hazard lights. One team is named I QUIT. The other may have to.

Kevin v Derek

Diamond Dogs vs. Hate Us Cause They Ain’t Us

The plan was to move on to footage of a competitive fantasy matchup. Unfortunately, that footage does not exist. The Diamond Dogs took the field Sunday and immediately treated Derek Chimner’s lineup like a chew toy. Caleb Williams opened the assault with 269 passing yards, four total touchdowns and 39.26 fantasy points. A commanding performance from the quarterback—and a troubling afternoon for anyone hoping this matchup would remain watchable.

Then D’Andre Swift punched in three rushing touchdowns, piling up 124 yards and 34.4 points.Bijan Robinson added 31.3 of his own. That’s 104.96 points from three players—already more than Hate Us Cause They Ain’t Us scored with nine positions completed. The Dogs weren’t finished. Mike Evans contributed 16.9, Garrett Wilson added 13.9, and even kicker Cam Little wandered in with 12 points, because apparently everyone on Kevin Ware’s roster needed a highlight. Across the field, Christian Watson fought bravely, erupting for 147 yards, two touchdowns and 34.7 points. He looked around for assistance. Justin Herbert offered 14.26. Rhamondre Stevenson added 14.5. Colston Loveland submitted zero, which statisticians have confirmed is not assistance. Even worse, A.J. Brown, Tee Higgins and James Cook combined for just 24.4 points—barely enough to outscore Diamond Dogs’ kicker and defense.

The scoreboard:

Diamond Dogs 182.96
Hate Us Cause They Ain’t Us 103.86

Derek still has Rashee Rice remaining Monday night. He needs 79.11 points to complete the comeback. So, roughly 450 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. No pressure. The win probability says 99% to 1%, presumably because the computer felt bad entering 100.

They call themselves Hate Us Cause They Ain’t Us. After this performance, the Diamond Dogs don’t hate them. They’re barely aware they were there.

Brian v Gentry

QB PARTY vs. Make My Team Win Again

We go now to a matchup that began as fantasy football and ended as a congressional landslide. QB PARTY arrived Sunday with one quarterback—and apparently every touchdown available in the continental United States. Brock Purdy opened with three passing scores and 24.1 points. Then Jahmyr Gibbs exploded for 156 yards and 35.6 points, while backfield partner David Montgomery contributed three touchdowns and 28.9.

Yes, both Detroit running backs went off. No, that is not considered sharing.

Justin Jefferson added two touchdowns and 31.2 points. Chris Olave caught 10 passes for 182 yards and 30.2. Nico Collins chipped in another 21.2, because by that stage Brian McElroy’s lineup was simply running up the score for historical purposes. Purdy, Gibbs, Montgomery, Jefferson and Olave combined for exactly 150 points. Make My Team Win Again currently has 74.5. Jonathan Taylor fought valiantly with two touchdowns and 25.1 points. The remainder of Gentry Radwanski’s lineup responded by forming a support group.

Jadarian Price: 7.8.
DeVonta Smith: 8.3.
Tony Pollard: 4.4.
Harrison Mevis: 1 point.

And Kyle Pitts delivered zero, continuing his groundbreaking effort to redefine the fantasy tight end position as an unpaid internship.

The scoreboard:

QB PARTY 184.90
Make My Team Win Again 74.50

Both teams have one player remaining Monday night. Gentry has Bo Nix. Brian has the Broncos defense—playing against Bo Nix. To complete the comeback, Nix must outscore his own opposing defense by 110.41 points. A difficult assignment, according to mathematics. QB PARTY holds a 99% win probability, a 110-point lead and an projected finish near 191. Make My Team Win Again? At this point, they’d settle for making the game competitive again.

Jack v Will

Hakeem Nicks is Real vs. Ace Trumpets

And finally, an important public-service announcement: Hakeem Nicks is real. And apparently, so is the 70-point beatdown. Jack Cassady’s squad opened the afternoon behind Jayden Daniels, who threw two touchdowns and contributed 19.66 points. Solid start. Nothing alarming. Then Ashton Jeanty arrived.

Jeanty piled up 102 yards, two receiving touchdowns and 34.7 fantasy points, producing the kind of performance that makes fantasy managers update their trade-block settings to “Do Not Contact.” Amon-Ra St. Brown followed with 10 catches, two touchdowns and 28.7 points. Dallas Goedert added two more scores and 23.7. Ladd McConkey contributed 19.2, giving Hakeem Nicks is Real four pass-catchers with at least 19 points. Even the specialists joined in.

Steelers defense: 14 points.
Tyler Loop: 14 points.

When your kicker and defense combine for 28, that’s not roster construction. That’s divine intervention. Ace Trumpets attempted to answer, but the brass section never quite found the melody. Parker Washington led the team with 19.3 points. Kyren Williams and Matthew Golden each supplied 15.5. Joe Burrow managed 15.16, while Saquon Barkley finished with just 9 points. George Pickens and Jameson Williams combined for 14.3—or, as Tyler Loop calls it, “a decent kicking day.”

The final score:

Hakeem Nicks is Real 179.76
Ace Trumpets 108.96

Every player is finished. The win probability reads 100% to 0%. No projections. No Monday-night miracle. No appeals process. Hakeem Nicks is Real didn’t merely win. They outscored Ace Trumpets at quarterback, both running backs, all three receivers, tight end, defense and kicker. Ace Trumpets brought the band. Jack Cassady brought the noise.
